ABOUT Jason Bittner


Jason Bittner is the drummer for New Jersey Thrash Pioneers –OVERKILL. He first came to prominence as a member of the Massachusetts metal band Shadows Fall, with whom he recorded and toured with from 2001 -2014. He has also been a member of Phoenix's Flotsam and Jetsam (2014-2017), has been a fill-in touring member of the "Big 4's" Anthrax (2006, 2008, 2012) and has also recorded and/or toured with numerous projects and sidebands including Dark Day Sunday, Moriah Formica (NBC's The Voice 2018), Stigmata, Burning Human, Crisis, Toxik, and many others.
One of many popular and celebrated current drummers in metal, he has won numerous awards including –Modern Drummer Reader's Poll's 1 Up and Coming Drummer 2004, #1Metal Drummer, and #1 Best Recorded Performance for the Shadows Fall –"The War Within" in 2005 as well as #1 Metal again in 2006. He has also won #1 drumming Rising Star (2006), #1 Metal (2007) and #3 Clinician (2010) by the readers of DRUM! magazine.

In addition, he has also been nominated for 2 Grammy awards with Shadows Fall in 2006 and 2008. He is recognized worldwide for his consistently tight playing, his extensive skills with double bass drumming, his familiarity with numerous other styles of drumming, including Latin, Afro-Cuban, and jazz, as well as his abilities as an instructor/clinician who has authored educational books and DVDs, and has taught students around the globe over the last 20 years.
