ABOUT Richard Rho
Richard Rho (노정진) is a jazz saxophonist and professor at Kwang Woon University in Seoul, South Korea. He was born in South Korea and immigrated to United States when he was in elementary school. He started playing saxophone in seventh grade and by the time he graduated high school, was the recipient of the Bill Clinton Presidential Award.
Richard attended Berklee College of Music where he studied under saxophone master George Garzone and formed a Jazz Band called "Prelude." With Prelude, Richard released over 10 albums on Sony Music and performed in numerous countries around the world. He was also featured in movies as an actor and performer. Thanks to the Jamey Aebersold scholarship, Richard earned a Master of Music at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he study with saxophonist Tom Walsh and jazz educator David Baker.
In 2012 and 2013, Richard was voted most popular saxophonist in the Jazz People Magazine reader's poll. Since then, he has continued to elevate his musicianship and receive excellent opportunities in his field. He is currently a full-time professor at Kwang Woon University in Seoul, promoting Jazz music in an environment where it had been previously unknown.
