Matt Marantz

Matt Marantz Quartet, Michael Bublé

"On alto, Select Jazz reeds allow me to find that fine line between flexibility and projection. They blend into a section when I play with Michael Bublé or they project to the back of the room when I play solo. Either way, they're the only reed I reach for!"

ABOUT Matt Marantz

At Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Marantz grew into a uniquely advanced musician, alongside his like-minded peers. He was compelled to learn how to play in ensembles in many different performance situations, under the tutelage of his father and then-director of jazz bands, Bart Marantz. It was here that Matt first learned about the great musical artists which became the roots of his musical foundation, such as Keith Jarrett, John Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins.

With the goal of becoming a performing artist, Marantz moved to New York City in 2004, beginning a musical journey that has taken him as far as The Middle East, Europe, and Asia. He has had the opportunity to perform live with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Michael Bublé, Branford Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, and Jason Moran along the way. Marantz's 2010 album Offering got 3 1/2 stars in Downbeat and his self-released title Aura is available on Bandcamp.
