ABOUT Diane Hunger


Known for her "sophisticated sound spectrum" and "enthralling performance," Diane Hunger frequently performs as soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and the United States. She's performed solo in Carnegie Hall and had two residencies at the National Music Festival in Maryland. She has recorded for the Bavarian Broadcast Station, Carl Fisher Publications, and Mark's Records, where her Solo CD 'Deviations' with Pianist Dan Sato and the Mana Quartet's CD 'Vide Supra' is published.

Diane holds the tenor chair in the critically acclaimed Mana Quartet and Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra. Furthermore, she is founder and panelist of Detmold Saxophone Talk, an online monthly panel discussion. Additionally, she teaches saxophone at Hochschule für Musik Detmold (GER) and the International Saxophone Academy. Previously she taught at Cornell University, Syracuse University (USA), State University of New York at Fredonia, Roberts-Wesleyan College, Canisius College, and was a Teaching Assistant at The Eastman School of Music.

Hunger is also enthusiastic about rediscovering music from the past and frequently transcribes music. She currently publishes compositions and transcriptions for saxophone through her publishing company ESURIO Media.

Diane studied at the Musikhochschule Hamburg, Musikhochschule Frankfurt/Darmstadt, State University of New York at Fredonia, as well as The Eastman School of Music. She received a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance with a Minor in Music Business, as well as an Arts Leadership Certificate from The Eastman School of Music in 2014.
