ABOUT Yiannis Papadopoulos

Yiannis Papadopoulos is an award-winning guitarist/educator/author from Athens, Greece. Growing up in a family of musicians, he started playing guitar at the age of 4. He holds a degree with honors in Guitar, Harmony, and Counterpoint. 

Yiannis is the lead guitarist for rock idol Scott Stapp (lead singer of Creed). With stapp, Yiannis has toured across the US and around the world. In addition, Papadopoulos has worked as a session musician with several famous Greek bands and artists, as well as recording on the albums of various international artists. In 2020, along with George Kollias (drums) and Michael Endemon (bass), he formed Royal Time Machine, an experimental rock/fusion trio project.

Yiannis has won numerous high-level guitar contests, including the Ibanez Guitar Solo Competition and The Andy James Dream Rig Competition. He was also a live finalist on Guitar Idol 4. Additionally, he has worked with Lick Library for a series of videos and is a Jam Track Central artist. In 2015, he published his first package for Jam Track Central titled "20 Prominent Metal Licks," followed by “Nightflower" in 2017. Papadopoulos has also published two books—2014’s "The Electric Guitar Technique Workout" and "Fretboard Concepts" in 2019.

When he's not touring, Yiannis divides his time between composing and recording songs for his personal instrumental album and other side projects. He also teaches in clinics, masterclasses, and gives lessons via Skype, having students from around the world.
